Your Communications Log

Throughout every day we are constantly communicating through various modes of communication. Communication could be through messaging through social media, email, text, phone calls, magazines, books, and even smoke signals. Most of of are not pulling out our semaphore flags and trying to relay a message, but in reality, this is also a valid form of communication.

The Communications Merit Badge has us taking a look at how, when, and what we are communication in one day. I really like this activity. It is one that has you assessing yourself at the end to see how much you communicate and if the communication is productive. Some people have to constantly communicate every hour of the day. I know that with myself, being an accountant, I am constantly communicating sales and expense numbers within an accounting software which is then reported to decision makers of the business. Other professions that involve a large amount of communication is the radio, TV, and news industries. Pretty much every job out there involves some sort of communication, just different varieties from each other.
