Snowflake Ornaments

Snowflake Ornament

The year 2020 witnessed the most toilet paper and paper towels sold in a short period of time. It was amazing watching full pallets being emptied in under 60 seconds!

When you use the last sheet, make sure to keep your roll and use it for your next activity. A scout is thrifty!

Around Christmas, one very simple and decorative craft for you and your scout to make is a snowflake ornament.

What will you need?

  • Used toilet paper / paper towel rolls (one toilet paper roll will make one ornament)

  • Scissors

  • Hole Punch

  • Hot Glue Gun - Adults please help with the younger scouts

  • Pipe Cleaners

Steps

  1. Take your empty used roll and flatten it with the palm of your hand. this will assist with the cutting of the roll

  2. Using your scissors, cut you paper roll about ever 3/4 inch. You will need 8 pieces that are the same size

  3. Take 1 of the pieces and punch a hole on one end. This is where you will be threading the pipe cleaner.

  4. Using the hot glue gun, glue the opposite side of the piece you just punched the hole in with a second piece. This will be the inside of your snowflake. Continue to glue until you have 4 pieces glued together forming a 4 point star.

  5. Take the remaining 4 pieces and fold them in half

  6. Glue the fold on both ends and place within the outer valleys of the larger 4 point star.

  7. Feed in the pipe cleaner and twist to form a loop

  8. Extra: you can decorate you snowflake with paint or glitter.

Here is a video to help with the above steps if any questions. Enjoy and have a wonderful Holiday Season!
