Easy Sausage Gravy
Growing up, I have some of the best memories of when Dad was in charge of cooking dinner. One of his favorite meals involved sausage gravy. Here is how to make sausage gravy:
Easy Sausage Gravy
Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
About 4 cups whole milk (roughly half a gallon)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
In your skillet, brown the breakfast sausage as you would ground beef. Or if using sausage links; cook fully and then cut into pieces. Do not discard grease. Next, gradually add and stir in the flour allowing it to be absorbed by the sausage and grease. Cook the sausage and flour mixture until browned. Add in the milk, salt, and pepper. Continually stir until the gravy thickens. If your gravy becomes too thick, simply add a little more milk to thin out.
Serve over biscuits, baked potatoes, hash-browns, or Dad’s favorite - toast.
