Sketch The Face of the Moon

Did you know that there are Seas on the Moon? Those dark sections of the moon are actually called seas. Early astronomers thought that they were bodies of water in space. Whats even crazier to think about, they were formed by ancient volcanic eruptions! These basaltic plains make up what we call the “Face” of the Moon. You may have even heard it refereed to as “the man in the moon”. If you squint your eyes and look at the right angle you can make out a silhouette of eyes, nose, and mouth looking down on earth. Requirement 6a. of the Astronomy merit badge has us sketching the face of the moon. Here is a free printable to help you out. Remember, it does not need to be perfect, just Do Your Best.
